Summary

Since its debut on Fairmont five years ago, this Greenspace group has transformed the streetscape along Farren Ave. as well as the neighboring streets of Pardee and Lancraft. The efforts of the group have not gone unnoticed by surrounding residents. This year the group welcomed a number of new members as they put in 4 street trees (bringing their three year total to 13 trees). One major accomplishment of the summer was the planting of a street tree on the corner of Farren Ave. and Ferry St. This busy corner was a solid expanse of concrete, but the group was able to remove a large square of sidewalk (over 1 ton of cement!) and plant a tall, shade-giving Honey Locust. In addition to planting trees and perennials, the group is committed to cleaning up garbage and clearing the street of other nuisances. The group was very successful in meeting their goals of tree planting and reaching out to new neighbors in the community.
