Summary
The FOEP Green Team confronted COVID prudently yet fearlessly this season. Despite having to wear masks in consistent 90-degree heat, the Green Team pushed through joyfully, fighting back great swathes of Japanese knotweed, keeping the thirsty young trees watered in the summer’s dry heat, and keeping the park tidy and free of litter week in and week out. They even managed to go above and beyond these apparent limitations and the expectations they carried but completing a whole host of new perennial plantings and mulching in the mid bridge area, making the daffodil garden and the end of Frank’s Trail yet more vibrant and inviting. They capped off the summer with an empowering and hopeful triumph, removing a dead tulip tree by hand where they previously had thought they would need to rely on the city’s help, and replacing it with a young Kentucky coffeetree!
