Summary
The Friends of Edgewood Park (FOEP) stewards all 123 acres of its sprawling site. This impressively managed group of volunteers has met weekly for the past few decades—rain, snow, or shine—to keep the space in near-perfect shape. This summer, we completed an ambitious tree-planting campaign that saw the addition of oaks, bald cypresses, dogwoods, and a northern pecan to the mid bridge area. With the help of Youth At Work high schoolers, the group planted another handful of cedars and bald cypresses along the vernal pool. During the few weeks without tree-planting, volunteers continued routine maintenance work around the mid bridge; they cleared knotweed and mugwort, tended to garden paths, and pruned back bushes.
