Summary
After three years of contention, the long-disputed vacant lot in the Dixwell neighborhood saw a resolution on June 25, 2023. Welcoming a fresh presence in the greenspace program, this lot marked the site of the group's inaugural summer work activity. Under the guidance of Jane Comins, the group was actively involved in a spectrum of endeavours, including restoration, stewardship, and fostering community connections throughout the summer. Their efforts encompassed various activities, from hosting cookout events to meticulously clearing trash and dead tree leaves. The establishment of mulch and log-based beds, along with the deliberate planting of trees, shrubs, and perennials, significantly contributed to the enhancement of the greenspace. Additionally, as a new addition to the greenspace program, the group proudly erected a greenspace sign, serving as a symbol of their commitment, during the latter part of the summer.
