Summary
Under the leadership of J.R. Logan, a dedicated group of volunteers focuses on preserving the scenic Mill River Trail. Their efforts center on stewardship and restoration from James Street to Exchange Street, removing invasive plants and litter to maintain the trail's natural beauty and health. This year, the volunteers introduced new plantings, including an Osage orange tree, Eastern red cedars, and bayberry bushes, to enhance the trail’s habitat value and biodiversity. A significant aspect of this year's work was engaging local youth, providing them with hands-on experiences in environmental conservation, and fostering a deeper connection to nature. Their work ensures that the Mill River Trail remains a thriving habitat for local wildlife and a peaceful retreat for all visitors.
