Summary
There are so many things to love in the Orchard Street Greenspace on a summer day, like the cool breeze that rustles the leaves of a triad of trees at the front of the lot and blows all the way through to the daylily beds in the back, or the barbecue grill with its two accompanying picnic tables, or the ever-present laughter of the members of Orchard Street Blockwatch. Lenora “Lil Mama” Turner, Paul and Katie Hawkins, and the Green sisters have watched over this Greenspace for years now. They can tell you all about when they planted each plant in the garden beds and the many helping hands that have come and gone through the Greenspace over the years. Even though this is a very well-established Greenspace group, they never tire of caring for their space, and this summer we welcomed new faces, removed ivy and knotweed, and put in plentiful new perennials.
