Summary
This is the Oyster Point group's 15th year with the Greenspace program. For the first half of the summer, the group focused on maintenance (weeding, pruning, mulching) and some planting in Triangle Park. The park looks quite recovered from the damage wrought by Hurricane Sandy, with many large, thriving shrubs and perennials lining the Water Street side. Next, the group planted 5 trees in Bayview Park - 2 cherries to replace the 2 honeylocusts that had been cut down inside the Hallock Ave. fence, 2 additional Leyland cypresses in front of the sewage treatment plant, and 1 tupelo near the corner of Howard Avenue and Sixth Street. The student team from Common Ground provided support in planting the 2 cherries. These trees further increase the significant cumulative impact that the Oyster Point group has had on Bayview Park.
