Summary
The friends of Oyster Point successfully initiated significant stewardship and restorative efforts this summer. The group’s activities focused on the beach oasis and Bayview Park. For the first half of the summer, the focus was at the beach oasis where the group focused on clearing weeds, spreading yards of mulch on the bed, and planting native hydrangea, yarrows and black-eyed susans. Afterwards, the group moved to Bayview Park and focused on clearing weeds along the fence, fixing the broken wooden fence, edging the vision trail with logs and mulching the trail with about 3 yards of mulch. They also planted native shade-tolerant shrubs, specifically mountain laurels and hostas.
