Summary
This is Quinnipiac River Park’s second year as a Greenspace Group. In 2014 they planted 8 trees as a response to the destruction and loss of trees caused by Irene and Hurricane Sandy in 2011 and 2012. This year the group stewarded these trees, bringing in new mulch and replacing perennials. They also planted three new trees. Another major accomplishment of the summer was the establishment of a birds and butterfly garden at the entrance to the park at the corner of Front and Pierpont. The group had several consistent and dedicated volunteers. There was noticeable improvement in the quality and beauty in the park. This group is a huge asset to New Haven.
Other activity
We created a butterfly garden at the entrance to the park on Front and Pierpont.
