Summary

The Rainbow Park Greenspace site is a heavily used city park in the Dwight neighborhood, within walking distance of commercial areas and restaurants. Despite being located in a difficult location for volunteer retention, the park is stewarded with the greatest conviction by members of the neighborhood community. After a large clean up conducted by a fraternity before the beginning of the season, efforts this year focused predominantly on maintenance. Together, the group mulched a significant area of the park, weeded, swept and raked the walkways, pruned the trees and shrubs which cut back on illegal storage and dumping, fixed benches and fences, and were continually picking up litter. This year we were also able to plant a variety of perennials and an evergreen shrub to lend some winter interest to the back of the park.
