Summary

The Shepard Street Greenspace group is an emeritus group that continues to maintain the beautiful garden they built up over the years. The group's core members are its leader, Jody, and the neighborhood youth. They have demonstrated their commitment to stewardship of the lot as they worked hard weeding, mulching, and watering. In addition to their dedication to stewardship, education is incorporated into each meeting for the benefit of the youth. Plants in the garden were originally selected to attract wildlife and some even bear fruit. Each venture into the garden is an opportunity for discovery and learning. The neighborhood kids love to see what they might discover as they work and excitedly report the status of the apples on the tree.
