Summary
Community members formed the SoHu (South of Humphrey) Block Watch Association in August 2007, and applied for a Community Greenspace grant in 2008 to plant more trees throughout their East Rock neighborhood. SoHu has a large number of committed volunteers and a high level of enthusiasm. In their first year, they planted 44 trees, a new record of the highest number of trees planted in one summer by one Greenspace group. This year SoHu was unable to plant on Pearl and Pleasant Streets due to sidewalk repairs, but still managed to plant 21 trees on Clark, Orange and State Streets. Visit their website at www.SoHuNewHaven.org to learn more.
