Summary
The Victims of Gun Violence is a group with a vision to create a beautiful memorial garden for all young victims of gun violence in New Haven. The group leader Marlene Pratt has worked tirelessly since the early spring to realize her goal of creating a tranquil place for loved ones to connect with those they have lost, and to bring both awareness and hope to this issue that affects so many families in the city. Since this project has started, Marlene has succeeded in forming a large coalition of mothers, fathers, and other supporters to see this project through. This summer the group agreed on their priorities for the site and on the structural and aesthetic elements they would like to include in the memorial garden. They will continue to work with the Parks Department to find a location for their project.
