Summary

The garden at Watson & Bassett has been a part of URI's Greenspace program for many years. After reaching their restoration goals of transforming a vacant lot into a community garden, the group now focuses on stewardship. This emeritus groups is lead by the dedicated, bouyant Mr. James Scott, and other helping hands from the community as well as volunteer groups. This year, a group of young women from the LEAP program helped weed, rake, and prune. Mr. Scott also took the lead on replacing and caring for two bright black eyed susans surrounding the park's central memorial tree, as well as mulching the back edge of the garden.
