Summary

Once a vacant lot, the garden at Watson and Bassett Street was transformed into a beautiful garden featuring two stone benches, a beautiful totem sculpture and a pathway engraved with reused tools. Its close proximity to the Farmington Canal adds to its frequent use by cyclists and pedestrians who sit under the shade of the oak trees to rest before resuming their journeys. Dedicated and hard-working Mr. Scott, who has been actively involved with the group since it first started the transformation process, leads the group. Just like last summer, this summer, Mr. Scott's primary focus was stewardship of the park that involved pruning of shrubs growing in the garden and along the fences, weeding the flower beds, picking up litter scattered both inside and outside the garden, fixing the bird bath, and mowing the grass. This summer Common Grounds student crew helped Mr. Scott with stewardship projects in the greenspace.
