2026 Greenspace Report
The West River Watershed Coalition saw an empty, weedy spot as an opportunity. In their first year as a Greenspace group, they transformed this weedy corner of West River Memorial Park into the Triangle Garden, a beautiful space that attracts pollinators and people alike. This year, they did it again. The group turned another vacant lot in the park into North Place Garden, transforming what was once a meadow covered in mugwort into a magical garden oasis. They installed a raised bed of pollinator plants and winding mulch paths that take you through a beautiful display of even more perennials and shrubs. They also added a stone bench and bird bath—small touches that invite both people and birds to stay and enjoy. Their vision and dedication brought this project to life, turning what were once largely ignored spaces into vibrant entryways, inviting all of the community to enjoy and connect with the park.
