Summary
In its 7th year of participation, this group continued its tree-planting streak by planting 3 trees in the Westville the area. Two years ago the group celebrated the planting of its 100th tree and continues to increase the urban canopy in New Haven. The group successfully planted a tree using a method not normally used by Greenspace groups. This 'Bioswale method' allows runoff from the sidewalk to collect around the tree and percolate to the trees roots. This method requires a site that is susceptible to flooding and stewards that are willing to do a little extra work.
