Summary

Esmeralda Greenspace has been cared for by Adeli DeArce for over two decades. When the original planting and design goals were met years ago, the group transitioned into being an “emeritus” site–the past few summers have been focused on upkeep and maintenance of the space. This site, and the work that was done this summer, is a testament to how a few volunteers' dedicated work has an immense impact on a neighborhood. Adeli and her husband, who live next door, spent practically every Saturday morning transforming the lot on the corner of Saltonstall and Lloyd back into a real community asset. The hours of weeding and raking allowed for the space to once again be enjoyed by neighbors of all ages and groups from schools just a few blocks away.
