Musa is a Master of Forestry candidate at the Yale School of the Environment. Her passion for social forestry grew when she worked as a forester in Zimbabwe prior to coming to Yale. She is excited to be joining URI as an intern this summer, in community building, environmental restoration and in stewardship of Green Spaces.

The group met to plant some Stella D'oro Day lilies, to water and to cut back some raspberries. It was an amazing workday. |

It was a highly productive day, at Watson and Bassett on Saturday. We applied some stone dust around the benches and broadcasted some grass seed. David helped moving the stone dust while Mr Scott was watering. |

With the help of Common Ground High School students the group continued to clear invasive plants. The friends of Beaver Ponds were very excited about the new bridge that was constructed and the fence that was mended by the Department of Fish and Wildlife. |

The group felt accomplished after planting a Kousa Dogwood, which is the second tree at this Park this year. The volunteers also managed to weed and mulch the shrub area. A new volunteer joined us, all the way from Hamden and we had a highly productive workday. |

Chris, Susan, Maria and I met on Saturday to plant some perennials at Blake Street pocket Park. Most of the plants were sun loving and they were planted on the front side of the park. |

The Hobart Street beds looked so beautiful after planting twelve Stella d'oro day lilies. Three purple and white echinacea added some contrast. The group also replanted many daffodil bulbs unearthed during the process. |

What a fantastic morning it was on Thursday! The group planted 2 Azaleas and 1 Nine-bark. Working in the morning was a great motivation to the team. One of their friends from Edgewood Park paid them a visit while they were planting. |
