2026 Greenspace Report

Ms. Betty Thompson has long been a force in New Haven, facilitating the very start of the Greenspace program. Her daughter Kenya has proven the same, inspiring the Cedar Hill and greater New Haven community through her work with the Parks Department and her daily interactions with her neighbors. Ms. Betty Thompson and Kenya’s family are key constituents of the Cedar Hill emeritus group, still actively stewarding sites across the neighborhood. Each workday was spent at one of five different areas, and many neighbors stop as they are walking or driving by to express their appreciation for all the hard work Ms. Betty and Kenya continue to put into their neighborhood. When Ms. Betty isn’t helping to pick up trash or weed, she can be found talking to the children playing in the park or even swinging on the swings! As we work, we always share stories, laughter and our love for the people in our neighborhoods and the earth we live with.
